There will not be any more tests or quizzes during the 2018-2019 school year, in 3rd grade.  We'll be wrapping up the school year by doing some projects and getting ready for summer during the last week of school.  :)

Writer's Workshop/Science:  The continuation of a research report will happen this week with a rough draft, revise/edit process, and final copy.

Social Studies:  Weeks 23 and 25 Test will be on Tuesday, June 4th.  Be familiar with the Constitution, Bill of Rights, what it means to be a good citizen and digital citizen, 19th amendment, rights and responsibilities, national monuments and symbols, and American flag.  Reread Weeks 23 and 25 to study.  This will be the last social studies test of the school year.

Math:  Chapter 13 Test will be on Wednesday, June 5th.  This will be the last math test of the school year.

Religion:  Chapter 23 Quiz will be on Thursday, June 6th.  This will be the last religion quiz of the school year.

Spelling:  Lesson 29 Test will be on Thursday, June 6th.  This will be the last spelling test of the school year.

Religion: Monstrance activity creation will begin on Monday, April 15th, in class.

English:  Chapter 4 Grammar Quiz will be on Tuesday, April 16th identifying action verbs, linking verbs, helping verbs, and identifying various tenses of verbs...look over your packet to study.  Technology Opinion Paragraph final copy will need to be completed, in class, no later than Wednesday, April 17th for those who haven't finished.  

Math:  Chapter 10 Test over fractions will be on Tuesday, April 16th.  Please review the vocabulary from the chapter, as well as know how to read fractions, give equivalent fractions, and compare fractions.  Finally, study the review pages that we complete in class on Monday.

Spelling:  Due to the shortened week, there will not be a spelling test this week.

Social Studies:  Weeks 20-21 social studies test over laws, rules, and government will be on Wednesday, April 17th.  It will be open book...reread the lesson and be familiar where information is located for a quick reference, if need be.  

Lenten Retreat will be on Thursday, April 18th.  No backpacks, iPads, or other items are needed at school on that day. 12:00 dismissal on Thursday with no after school daycare.

Math:  Chapter 11 Test will be on Wednesday, March 27th.  Make sure you look over your packet and understand the following:  how to measure capacity and mass, the difference between milliliters and liters, the difference between grams and kilograms, how to tell time, how to figure out time intervals, and how to problem solve.

Math:  Chapter 11 Quiz over Lessons 1-4 will be on Wednesday, March 13th.  Look over Lessons 1-4 to study and understand the difference between milliliters/liters and grams/kilograms.

Social Studies/Reading:  We'll be continuing our Native American Unit this week with various projects completed in class.

Math:  Chapter 6 Test will be on Wednesday, February 27th.  Make sure you look over your packet and understand how to multiply and divide, know what a multiplication and division sentence is, write a sentence with an unknown, look for patterns, and solve story problems.

Spelling:  Lesson 19 Test will be on Thursday, February 28th.

Social Studies:  Chapter 1 (packet) Test will be on Thursday, February 28th.  

  • Look over your packet...be familiar with the vocabulary:  community, location, natural resource, region, mineral, diverse, culture, cardinal directions, intermediate directions, symbol, relative location, absolute location, hemispheres, rural, urban, and suburb.  
  • Be familiar with the difference between a physical and political map, as well as the compass rose, scale, and map key.  
  • Be able to explain how communities are different and how they've changed.
  • Understand the purpose of latitude and longitude.

Chapter 5 Religion Quiz

Make sure you are familiar with the following terms and concepts:

  • Apostle:  one of the people specially chosen by Jesus to spread his message.
  • Jesus had 12 Apostles in all.
  • Disciples: a follower of Jesus.
  • Know how to read Bible readings, such as Mark 1:16-20, "Mark, Chapter 1, Verses 16 through 20."
