Thursday Assignments

Good morning!

It’s the last day of school!!!!!!

This is definitely not how I expected our year to end and I am saddened by the time I lost with your students in the classroom. However, I am so grateful that you helped me continue to be their teacher remotely. I have seen them work incredibly hard to adapt to this new way of learning and I am very proud of their continued growth. I am even more grateful that they are all healthy and safe. Thank you for being my team through this all! I couldn’t have asked for a better group of families to navigate this uncharted territory with. I hope that you enjoy a much-deserved break!

For our final Zoom session today we will do one last review and read a book together. Students have RazKids and IXL assignments as they did the last couple days but I hope that they will also spend some time continuing to explore Freckle.

Students can attend P.E. class at 11:00.

Please remember that tomorrow is book drop off and report card pick up day. Our scheduled time is 9:30 – 10:30 AM. Please review Mr. Ambriz’s email for instructions. Remember your masks! Students need to return their Wonders textbook and any school library books they have at home. I will not be able to give them their report cards if I don't receive their Wonders book back. If your student collected money in their CRS rice bowl during the Lenten season they may also turn that in on Friday. I look forward to seeing you!

Hello again wonderful second grade families!

I am sending out tomorrow’s email a little early. I’ve made some changes to the way I am structuring my Seesaw Activities, mostly for lessons that require a video and for all lessons done in the students’ workbooks. If there is a video for the lesson it will be linked to the Activity instead of posted in the Journal. Also, I will be creating an Activity for every workbook assignment so that students can submit a picture to the Activity. This will hopefully help us all keep track of what work has been done and what has not. I have also put lesson instructions in the description of the lesson. Please watch this video with clearer instructions and let me know if you have any questions!

Assignment

Dear Second Grade Families,

A note about the Zoom meetings – I really enjoyed being able to teach the students through our whole class meeting as well as small groups. I just want to make a few notes on technology. I know that the Zoom link I sent out for the morning assembly did not work and I apologize, I tried to test it beforehand but my interface looks a little different on Seesaw. It also looks like the way my links were working last week is no longer the case. They seem to be opening directly from Seesaw to Zoom instead of opening a link to be copied.

Moving forward, I’ll continue to post the links but I will also post the Meeting ID and Password into the caption of the link (where today it said the time of the meeting) that way if the link is not working they can enter those numbers into the Zoom app. It may be helpful to write down the codes ahead of time for them and show them where to enter them when you have a little time. I know many of you are working from home and I want to make the logging on process as simple as possible so that the students don’t need to ask for your assistance while you’re working. You have all the codes for the week in the previous emails I have sent. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Happy Wednesday! Hopefully you read Mr. Ambriz’s email about extending our school closure. Remote learning will remain similar, with the exception of the packets. Instead all work will be done either in the workbooks that you already have or on the Seesaw application. I pray that it will be safe to return to school after our Easter break. I continue to be thankful for your hard work, students and parents, and will keep putting all my effort into providing solid learning opportunities for your students through our digital platforms.

There are lots of videos today! Including a read aloud from me. This is not an assignment but I have been reading Wayside School to the students and would like to continue doing so while they are at home.

Happy Thursday! We’re so close to Friday!

I am very impressed with the work I am seeing turned in. Give yourselves a pat on the back (students and parents!) Thanks for your video and email questions yesterday.

I have created a folder on Seesaw called “Remote Learning Videos”. On the student screen, their name should appear on the right hand side with an icon of a file folder. If you hold down the icon, it will open a screen that says “Folders”. When you click on “Remote Learning Videos” you’ll find all the videos I am posting for the students. I also discovered today (after a parent suggested it) that I can post a link to any YouTube videos so hopefully that will be easier for viewing for the students when I provide content that way.

Parents, I’ve put together a quick tutorial video for you to explain how I build a math lesson and how to move your student from guided practice to independent practice. I attached that video here, it is called “Math Packet Tutorial”. I will not be posting this one on Seesaw as it is meant for you and not the students.

Assignment

Good morning second grade families!

You did excellent work yesterday. I loved your St. Patrick’s Day pictures, your altar drawings, and your graphic organizers. Did you have any questions?

Parents – In school, we take brain breaks when we’ve been focused and working for a while. After 30 minutes or so we need a break. GoNoodle is a website we use all the time! https://app.gonoodle.com/ Check it out!

Maybe you’ve seen this floating around social media, but I thought I’d share in case your kiddos are looking for a creative outlet and want to doodle today!

Also, a parent mentioned that having allotted times for each lesson would be helpful. Please keep in mind that students work at different paces but I have included how long I believe each lesson should take. Hopefully this will be helpful to your daily planning!

Please fill out the feedback form Mr. Ambriz sent out yesterday. If there is anything more/different I can do to support your students’ learning, please let us know through that form. Have a great day!
