Day of the Dead Altars

Join our students and room parents as we celebrate the traditional Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos celebrations on November 2 by assisting with altars outside of each classroom to honor our loved ones who have passed away. It is a celebration of a beautiful aspect of our Catholic Faith and tradition that teaches us to honor and pray for those who have passed on to the Lord. We remember them and pray that their time in purgatory will be short and that they will be at peace with the Lord.

Room parents and classroom teachers will adorn special altars in the hallways on Friday, October 30, and we ask that families participate by bringing pictures of their loved ones who have died and any special treats that they may have enjoyed. Families may leave these pictures on the altars outside of their child’s classroom. Please write your child’s name and grade on the back of each picture frame that you bring.

Fr. Marinello will bless the Dia de los Muertos altars on Monday, November 2, at 8:45 am. On November 13, we will host a special Eucharistic procession with the Blessed Sacrament on campus. The Eucharist will be placed at each Dia de los Muertos altar throughout the school for adoration and blessing, so room parents are asked to prepare a special stand on their altars for the monstrance to be placed.

Day of the Dead altars will remain present during the month of November to help us remember to pray for the souls in purgatory.
