Math - Today we will begin exploring patterns in math.  We will start with non-numeric (not numbers) patterns.
Please read page 413 at the top and follow through with the examples on 413 and 414.  Then complete the Independent Practice on pages 415-416.  Once you have done that, homework is pages 417 and 418. For extra practice complete IXL L.1- L.4

Reading - On Readworks.org, read the two passages that have been assigned for today and answer the questions that follow.  Be sure to submit your answers when you have finished.

Choose a fourth grade level chapter book (no graphic novels), and read for at least 20 minutes.  Write a 3-5 sentence summary of what you read and submit it via Google Classroom.  Use your best cursive when you write the summary.

Religion - Read page 83.  Underline the meaning of prayer in the first paragraph.  Write about a time that Jesus prayed from a Bible story that you recall.  Circle the four types of prayer and create a flash card (on index cards) for each type of prayer.  On the front of the card, write the name of the prayer type.  On the back, write the meaning of the prayer type and a brief (one sentence) example. End by reading and taking "A Moment With Jesus" on page 83.

Vocabulary - Be sure that you have completed popplets for all 15 words in lesson 9.  Complete 9A on pages 102 and 103.  Do one Vocabulary City activity.

Writing - Today you will begin learning to write opinion essays that contain an introduction, logically ordered reasons, and a conclusion.  You will use unit 8 in your Progress book to begin.  Start by reading a student model of an opinion essay on pages 180-182.  As you read through the essay, be sure to follow the directions given in the sidebars on each page (green and black writing).  When you have finished reading and marking the passage, choose a development that has occurred in the past 100 years that has had the greatest impact on your life. You may not write about smartphones.  Using the outline on page 183, write a title for your passage.  On the lines after opinion, write your opinion about the item you have chosen in a sentence. Add 1-3 sentences of background information.  Then write three reasons (one sentence each) that support your opinion in the Supporting Reasons section of the outline. These must be facts and/or figures.  Write 1-2 concluding sentences.  Use "The Most Important Invention" as a guide.

STEM -Practice line plots on IXL Math J.6 and J.7.

Science - In the Week 8 Our Body's Systems newspaper, read "Systems that Keep You Running" and "It's All About Systems". Read each article at least two times. Highlight the answers in your newspaper.
